The theme of
this design was "the code of Western culture in a Chinese's
eyes". This project aimed to create a pleasant casual and relaxing
atmosphere. The appropriate matching of materials and well-organized
details and colors are more important than the use of expensive materials
in creating an elegant interior.
This design was later awarded a competition 2nd prize. |

HOTEL INTERIOR DESIGN DESIGN COMPETITION 1997 In Shanghai, nearly all the projects need competition to select the best solution for the proposed investments. Being a designer as well as an illustrator, I have a good opportunity to demonstrate my ability in design, and present my design in my way. This hotel design finished in Dec. 1997. Clients preferred using Shanghai's historic characters as key elements. I try to create a simplified classical image. Traditional granite enhances the lobby's elegance. But some materials are not traditional. For example, the hanging panel above the reception is made of complex alucbond. |
